Few industry’s can contend with such certainty that their core business- in our case, driving fresh fruit and vegetable consumption, makes so positive a contribution to public diet and general well being. Prospects, though for increasing consumption still further remain closely linked to the implicit trust attached to fresh produce by the consumer; a trust very much dependent on the supply chain through which produce is delivered and in the integrity of those from whom it is sourced.

In the first instance, as a customer orientated organisation, delivering premium quality, safe produce to the consumer must always remain a priority for us. Meeting and exceeding customer expectations is what we do. We strive, therefore to adopt best practice throughout all of our processes and across all of our operations to deliver consistent, safe, traceable fresh produce.
We recognise also, though the responsibilities associated with the pursuit of this goal, most notably to the emerging and developing nations from which we source, and more specifically to our partners in production – the local and global growers who supply us. To this end, the Total Produce group is a member of SEDEX, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, a membership organisation for businesses committed to continuous improvement of the ethical performance of their supply chains (see www.sedex.co.uk) while all TOP branded fruits & vegetables have GLOBALGAP certification. The GLOBALG.A.P standard (see www.globalgap.org) is primarily designed to offer reassurance to consumers about how food is produced on the farm by minimising detrimental environmental impacts of farming operations, reducing the use of chemical inputs and ensuring a responsible approach to worker health and safety as well as animal welfare.
